Pennsylvania Inside Out: Skin

We expose it, cover it, tattoo it, nourish it, and do any number of things to keep it from wrinkling. It, of course, is our skin, and as the body's largest organ, skin is an amazing, yet often-undervalued veneer. Beauty may be only skin deep, but our skin offers a deep look into 300-million years of human evolution. Professor Nina Jablonski, the head of Penn State's department of anthropology, delved into this subject in her new book, "Skin: A Natural History." We talked with Dr. Jablonski about skin's uniqueness and importance in human biology.
